Kanon Ito
Kanon Ito is a 19-year-old pianist based in Sydney, currently studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the guidance of Clemens Leske, supported by the John and Dorothy Vimpani Pianoforte Scholarship. She has also been mentored by concert pianist Vatche Jambazian. She began piano at the age of 4 with Sayano Ito, and was accepted into the Conservatorium High School, where she graduated in 2023.
Kanon was recently a semi-finalist in the 2025 Gianni Bergamo Classical Music Award in Switzerland. She is also an award recipient of the 2024 Theme and Variations Foundation Program, and was invited to take part in the world premiere of David Paterson’s piano concerto, Variations on a Ukrainian Theme, sharing the stage with Alexander Gavrylyuk in 2024. In 2023, she placed 3rd in the NSW State Final of the 2MBS Young Virtuoso Award, and her performances were broadcast on radio.
She has recently worked with the Omega Ensemble, workshopping a new composition. She has also taken part in masterclasses with distinguished pianists including Uta Weyand, Matan Porat, and Giulio Biddau. Kanon completed the accelerated Music 2 HSC course in 2022 earning an Encore nomination, and was selected for Encore in Music Extension in 2023.
Her passion for music continues to drive her growth as an emerging artist in the classical music world.
